Globally, there are more and more green hotels and resorts, which are environmentally-friendly organizations whose managers are committed to save water and energy, as well as reducing solid waste by instituting different programs to protect our earth. Let’s us show you some examples.
1. Rosedale Hotel Kowloon

Rosedale Hotel Kowloon pays much efforts on reducing environmental footprint to maintain sustainability. Firstly, it uses low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) supplemental materials to achieve better air quality control. For reducing heat, it has a 100% underground car park to heat island effect. To save water, it uses water efficiency fixtures which can reduce 40% of water use comparing with US EPA standard. On the other hand, more than 30% of the hotel’s products and materials are from local region to reduce transportation. More importantly, the hotel also raises awareness about sustainability through public education. Its contribution on building green environments allows it to obtain the gold-level of the US Green Building Council’s LEED.
2. Parkroyal on Pickering Hotel

Parkroyal on Pickering Hotels has received the country’s highest green rating. It is also regarded as one of the trendiest eco-friendly hotels in the world as it has added a fresh perspective to hospitality with a variety of innovative sustainable features. The most noteworthy feature is the garden with 15,000 square meters. This special design reduces water consumption. It collects rainwater which irrigates plants. The hotel has also achieved the goal of 2 square meters of lush greenery for every 1 square meter of total land area. Moreover, the hotel uses LED and harvest sunlight which successfully achieved 20% light power reduction. Furthermore, it regulates the use resources frequently by setting up light, motion and rain sensors. It is not surprised that the hotel has won the Award for Asia’s Leading Green Hotel.
3. Six Senses Con Dao

Six Senses is the first five-star resort in archipelago islands, is modern in design with environmentally- friendly ideas. The build materials used in the resort are sustainable resources. Moreover, looking at the photo of Six Senses hotel room, we can see that air conditioning is seldom in need, as the structure maximizes air flow so as to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases by using less air conditioner. Their staff is also passionate in maintaining the sustainable environment and committing to social responsibility to reduce carbon footprint.
Learning Reflection
Environmental protection has become a hit topic in recent years. Sustainable lodging could be one of the way for hotels being more environmentally friendly. Especially nowadays, many people love travelling around the world, green hotels could be their option! Choosing this kind of hotel can reduce our carbon footprint, meanwhile, their quality will not be reduced. We do support choosing green hotels!
